What is WIPO – IP Diagnostics Indian Adaptation?

WIPO IP Diagnostics - Indian Adaptation is an intellectual property self-assessment tool for small businesses developed in collaboration with the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, India.

WIPO IP Diagnostics is a two layered tool comprising of a list of questions with multiple choice options. Based on your answers the relevant fields of intellectual property to your business are unlocked which then lead you to a second list of questions.

First section

The first section is termed "pre-assessment" and consists of eleven questions. You may answer them keeping your business in mind so that the remaining questions are unlocked which are tailored to your specific needs. On answering all the questions, you may proceed to more detailed questions in the different IP sections like Trademarks, Designs, Creative Materials, etc automatically generated based on the responses to the pre-assessment section.

The boxes below show the areas that have been identified as relevant or not relevant (shown as enabled and disabled respectively) to your business from the responses given to the pre-assessment questionnaire. You may choose to respond to the questions which you feel are relevant or cater to your interest. Upon completion a report will be generated that you can view either in html or pdf format. Two reports – Suppliers, independent contractors and consultants and Access to intellectual property expertise are generated immediately after you answer the pre-assessment section.

How does it benefit me?

The tool generates a report which is based on the responses provided by you. Thus, it is a customized report which helps you to identify your IP assets and suggests you the steps you need to take to protect, monetize and enforce those assets.

Can I retake the assessment in case I want to change my response to the questions?

If you feel you have missed any question or want to retake the assessment you can always click on Edit the questionnaire of the particular report which is generated or choose to retake the pre-assessment questionnaire afresh by clicking on Re-start pre-assessment. Thus, the tool is designed in a manner to enable you to study and assess your intellectual property without any limitation or restriction on the number of attempts.
